If you have a chance to catch the current tour by Stephen Marley in support of his debut solo album “Mind Control”, don’t miss it! I recently saw them @ Club 8150 in Vail and they tore up the club! Stephen played a handful of songs from the new album. Then he and his younger brother & fellow grammy winner Damian “Jr. Gong” lit up the crowd with the new hit “Traffic Jam”. The floor bounced like a trampoline through the night as they sprinkled in some of thier father’s music as well as more of Jr. Gong’s material. Towards the end, they we’re joined by the legendary Cat Coore of Third World for a rousing rendition of “Exodus”. The show finally came to an end with a dancehall jam that featured lyrical fire by the Marleys & K’naan(who is the opening act on the tour). Some of the most respected music afficianados that I know have told me they think it was quite possibly the “best reggae show they’ve ever seen”. I would have to say that Team Marley, with the release of “Mind Control”, stands at the front of the line for the reggae grammy again in 2008!!!
