Jamaican reggae singer Buju Banton has been arrested on drugs charges in Florida.

According to the Associated Press Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, was arrested last Thursday after he attempted to buy cocaine from an undercover officer.

He faces a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.

Two other men who were with banton at the time have also been arrested and charged.

Banton has recently been nominated for a Grammy award for his album Rasta Got Soul.
